I believe that the witches were the ones who sent the third murderer. Although
I am not sure about the murderer's true identity, it is possible that it was one of the witches themselves or it might have
just beenn someone they sent. I think the reason that the murderer was sent was to make sure that Fleance was not killed and
was able to escape. He had to escape to fulfill the witches prediction that Banquo would beget kings. I suppose another reason
that the murderer was sent could be was to ruin Macbeth's plans while teaching him a lesson all at the same time. The witches
might have been trying to teach Macbeth that doing evil is no way to get what you want and you would never get away with it.
I do not think that Lady Macbeth was the murderer because Macbeth had not told her of his plans in order to keep her innocent.
Also, Malcolm and Donalbain were in England and Ireland and Macduff was reported to be in the English Court rallying troops
to remove Macbeth, so neither of the three could have been at the crime scene. The only other possibility would have
been Macbeth; however, he was hosting a party and he was surprised to hear of Fleance's escape. Also, after he had been
updated on the murder, he was scared by the ghost of Banquo, which also showed that he would never get away with what he is
doing.
